MIMMO PALADINO
1991
Mimmo Paladino’s works are a place of the mind where the images, beyond the antique, the memory and the symbolic value, are written below. The figures, the « pictorial motives » separated from their usual relations, declare their neutrality towards the primary model – « The work does not wonder about the first origin of its iconography » (Bonito Oliva) – and become signs, traces the artist gathers and recomposes, ceating an other reality closed to the ordinary of the signification as to the arrogance of the common sense.
The dynamic tension between autobiography and anthropological memory, between vision and language determines the structure of the work; a structure which is always well balanced between project and improvisation. « Each work of mine is always totally balanced in that the movement is never declared, neither in a way nor in an other.
