David Bowes paints intellectual fantasies that take root in the figurative pictorial tradition without using however the inverted commas of the quotation.

t is although opportune to consider the fantastic as a simple place and, at the same time, a « depraved » and necessary form of the logical thought with which the artist operates casual symbolic and enigmatic – sometimes insignificant – exchanges with the figures of reality. Without losing himself in the exhuberance, Bowes uses his modern combinative lamp in which, probably ( the ambiguity of the fantastic is limited by doubt ) this, not legitimated by the rational order, elsewhere – made of memories, « linguistic games » and mental associations – is cast.
